On Friday, April 25th, LEO Ph.D. student JP Pieper and Professor Valerie Karplus participated in the 2025 Random Distance Run, hosted by CMU’s School of Computer Science. A group of LEO and EPP peers were in attendance to cheer on the duo. JP completed the 1.75 mile race (the distance is decided by the sum of two “ENORMOUS FUZZY DICE” rolls) in 9 minutes, 8 seconds — making him this year’s winner. (Valerie was just happy to finish!)

Congratulations, JP!
